Bradford & District

Profile

Formed in 2017, Bradford & District Visually Impaired Community Club is a sports & leisure club run by visually impaired people for the sight impaired. The

purposes of the Club are to foster and promote participation in sport within the community, providing facilities for playing, opportunities for recreation, coaching and competition as well as social activities exclusively for blind and partially sighted people.

Blind and partially sighted people are frequently excluded from mainstream sporting opportunities, both at school and in the broader community. This marginalisation in early life generally leads to a whole life without the physical, psychological and social benefits of involvement in sport. Our club seeks to break this cycle by introducing visually impaired adults and juniors to cricket, offering an opportunity to learn the game at regular, local training sessions and as their skills and confidence develop move on to play competitively and represent the club in Blind Cricket England and Wales Cricket Leagues.
