The Brian Johnston Memorial Trust (BJMT) have confirmed they will again fund the annual BCEW development tournament in 2013. The event has been running since 2010 and to date has involved more than 250 young and developing blind cricketers.

The 2013 BCEW BJMT Development Tournament will take place over the weekend of 21st/22nd September at Leicester University.

Northants Steelbacks won the event last year & in 2010 with Berkshire Stags the winners in 2011.

Richard Anstey, BJMT Trust Administrator, said: “Brian Johnston (Johnners) became the eyes for thousands of people affected with visual impairment. The Trust is delighted to support such a worthwhile programme as the BCEW Development Weekend in September which helps so many blind and visually impaired cricketers to play the game.”

Dave Gavrilovic, BCEW General Secretary, added: “We are delighted to continue the relationship with BJMT to deliver in partnership the annual development weekend that has proved so popular and successful over the past 3 years. The generous grant of £7000 will again allow 8 teams, totaling around 90 players to take part in the event.”
