Committee and Club changes following the BCEW AGM

27th November 2013

Following the 2013 BCEW AGM, there have been some changes to the Charity’s board of trustees.

Former England International Geoff Smith has been elected to the new position of Technical Director, this position has replaced the position of Fixtures & Technical Director with fixtures becoming part of the General Secretary Dave Gavrilovic’s role.

Geoff has formerly held the post of General Secretary for the World Blind Cricket Council, BCEW and BBS Cricket, his former clubs include Metro and Sussex, and he played in the very first England blind cricket team.

He was out of the game for a few years before returning to assist John Garbett with BCEW development earlier in 2013 and played for Metro Devils in the Southern Development league during the past summer.

Dave Gavrilovic had been acting Fixtures & Technical Director for the past four seasons so fixtures becoming part of his role on a more permanent basis was agreed unanimously.

Darshak Patel has become the new head of the BCEW Umpires Panel. Daku has served on the panel for the past two seasons and some impressive performances led to him being appointed to stand at Twenty20 finals day this season where he officiated a semi final and the third-place play off.

David Townley (Chairman) and John Garbett (Development Director) were both re-elected to their roles unopposed.
