RNC edge out Gloucestershire in pre-season friendly

8th March 2013

In one of the earliest outdoor matches in recent blind cricket history Gloucestershire VICCC played their first match against visually impaired opposition, facing RNC Hereford on Sunday 3rd March.

After RNC won the toss Gloucestershire were sent in to bat first, scoring 147/9 from their 20 overs. In cold & increasingly windy conditions the RNC batsmen put together a controlled run chase recording 148/5 from 16.5 overs to reach the winning post with 19 balls to spare.

Both teams deserve congratulations for being willing to play so early in the year, as do Mark Fisher & Jo Mann for umpiring the game. RNC & Gloucestershire are both preparing for their first season in the BCEW Southern Development League, in which they will join Berkshire, Somerset & fellow newcomers Metro.
