Metro avoid big names in BBS Cup draw

10th November 2014

The draw for the 2015 BBS Primary Club Heindrich Swanepoel Memorial Cup will fill those drawn into the lower half of the competition with hope, Metro foremost amongst them.

In the first round, Northants Steelbacks finally got drawn at home after nine consecutive away cup matches and they will host the only new team in next year’s competition Gloucestershire Growlers. The only other first round tie sees Durham VICC hosting Lancashire Lions.

The lower half of the quarter finals seems by far the more favourable section of the draw with Nottingham Knights hosting Yorkshire and Metro traveling to the winner of the Northants versus Gloucestershire match, before the winners face each other in the semi finals.

The tie of the round is in the top half as Somerset VICC travel to Warwickshire Bears in a repeat of the 2014 Twenty20 cup final. The winner of the Durham versus Lancashire first round match will host Sussex Sharks to see who will travel to Warwickshire or Somerset in the semi finals.

In the BCEW Bill Frindall Memorial Twenty20 Cup Quarter Finals Somerset are again in the tie of the round as the defending champions host 2014 National League Winners Metro. Lancashire have on paper the simplest path to finals day as they host a BCEW Development XI whilst Yorkshire were drawn at home to Sussex. In the last of the quarter finals Northants travel to Warwickshire hoping to finally break their 21 match losing streak against the Bears.
