Nine teams set for development festival

9th September 2016

The 2016 BCEW Brian Johnston Memorial Trust Development Festival is set to take place in Leicester on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September featuring nine teams.

Over 100 players will take part in the seventh annual festival, including a record 18 women and girls.

This year’s entrants are Berkshire Stags, Dorset Dolphins, Kent Spitfires, Nottinghamshire Knights, Staffordshire Wolves, Worcestershire Elizabethans and Yorkshire Vikings as well as two combined teams, Derbyshire Owls/Durham Vipers and Gloucestershire Growlers/Surrey VICC.

There are also individual players from at least three more clubs who will join up with those taking part as their own clubs are not attending the festival this year.

The format of the festival this season will be seven rounds of matches, each lasting 10 overs per side with the overall result of the tournament decided by a league table.

Each round of group games will have one team not involved due to the odd number of entrants and the team not in each round will be given the chance of coaching or just to practice ahead of their next match on the spare pitch.

We would like to thank the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust for the funding to stage the event again this year and we wish the best of luck to all the teams and officials taking part.
