Profile
Surrey Visually Impaired County Cricket Club was established in 2012 with just one member. Over the next two years developed through a program of taster sessions and demonstrations the squad grew sufficiently to be able to enter BCEW regional league in 2015. Finishing third in the debut season was a great success but 2016 proved even more astonishing as Surrey won the Regional League, Regional T20 Cup and in a joint side with Gloucestershire the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust Development Festival in Leicester.
As part of Surrey Cricket Foundation the squad has done many demonstrations at the Kia Oval as well as being part of the famous “Cricket United” on the Saturday of the Oval test match. Surrey have also been active in a number of school programmes including a Schools pathway, training PE Heads in schools across the county in VI Cricket, and opening up a path to a Surrey 2nd XI and possible youth squad.
Winter training is held at Fernhill School, Neville Duke Rd, Farnborough GU14 9BY whilst matches and summer training are at Frimley Phoenix Cricket Club, Hawley, GU17 9BW. The Surrey Cricket Foundation is very grateful to Frimley Phoenix CC and Blackwater and Hawley Parish Council for sharing their facilities and all their support in growing VI Cricket in the county.
